September 11 - Arrival at Oahu

Just some brief comments on the flight. We purchased tickets on United Airlines through Priceline. We got an excellent price. We flew from JFK and had a short layover at LAX. We then flew to Honolulu.

We were going to take the city bus from the airport to our hotel. However, you can't take large suitcases on the city bus. No worries. There is a shuttle that isn't widely advertised at the Honolulu airport. It's called the Airport Shuttle, which is operated by Roberts Hawaii. For $9.00 one-way, cash only ($15.00 round trip), you can go from the airport to your hotel in Waikiki.

We stayed overnight at the Hawaii Prince Hotel, another Priceline purchase. It was a beautiful hotel right on the marina. The great thing about its location is that it's on the marina, located before downtown Waikiki. Therefore, the area isn't as congested and was the first stop on the Airport Shuttle. It also has a great Sunday brunch, which we enjoyed with one of Rex's friends and his friend's family.

For dinner on Saturday night, we happened upon Teddy's Burgers. Wicked ono (delicious)! It's located on Kapalulu Ave. in Waikiki. I had their Big Fat Greek Burger, which was like a greek salad on a burger. Note: Burgers in Hawaii are fresh, as the cattle is bred right on the islands.
